'Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization created in 2006 by educator Salman Khan with the aim of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere.' - Wikipedia
The academy teaches everything from basic math to advanced calculus which is available to everyone at anytime. The concept of the flipped classroom is in regards to homework. Instead of having students do traditional homework problems at home, instead you can assign a video for students to watch and learn from Khan Academy, and then work through the problems in the classroom. This can allow for group work to take place, teacher facilitaiton when needed, and improve the learning process for students by providing that teacher resource when they need it most.
Here is a Ted Talk by Salman Khan where he discusses 'flipping the traditional classroom script — give students video lectures to watch at home, and do "homework" in the classroom with the teacher available to help.'
