I found a useful resource for Goal Setting:

http://kcadv.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/SMARTgoalsWS-NN.pdf

These resource utilizes the SMART goal setting principle:

Specific - Answer who/what/where/when/how

Measurable - Add details, measurement and tracking fields

Attainable - What additional resources are required?

Relevant - Why do you want to achieve this?

Timely - Set a deadline and set benchmarks

I also like the additional section to write down your goal in as few words as possible.

My goal is to maintain a blog to inquire further about theories and practices of SRL, so that I may develop my knowledge and understanding of the material and refine my own personal practices and development, as well as improve my ability to teach and facilitate SRL for future students in my classroom.

After utilizing this goal worksheet I realize that my previously set goal does not meet all the criteria. I must ensure my goal is timely so I will adjust my goal to state that I must develop and understand SRL by then end of this course, and work to develop professionally before the start of the school year. This way I can look to facilitate learning throughout the next school year.
