"Progression through inquiry requires flexible use of multiple learning strategies coupled with understanding of when an adjustment is needed. Multiple learning strategies will include aspects such as: research (in text or online), collecting field data, note taking, reading, and the asking as well as the reflecting on questions."
Engaging in inquiry for SRL, or any subject for that matter, has never been easier. With the wide range of information available online, it is perfect for someone who is relatively new in the subject area. For me, the maximum exposure to many theories and practices is the best way to develop my knowledge and understanding before engaging in inquiry and applying what I’ve learned. The online learning resource style is conducive to this style of learning as it allows the learner to continuously move through pages of material based on personal inquiry during research. There is a brief reflection and inquiry process on every page before clicking on that next link or resource.
One of the main benefits I see is that the online resource allows you to see a timeline of events in the evolution of theories. Whether you have a website like sr2learn with many posts dated from 2011, or Twitter which is much more recent, you can see some of the core information and how it has contributed to the development of new theory and practice. I enjoy this type of exposure because after learning about any subject I want to learn about and know the most current research and practices in order to frame what direction it will take in the future.
