“Learning depends on assessment of both product and process to know what is known, what requires additional effort, and what skills are effective.”

- (Paris & Paris, 2001)

This quote stands out to me because it gives a well-rounded view of why assessment is important; whether that be initiated by self or others. It reinforces my stance on self-reflection and how it contributes to my learning in this program, as well as other professional development endeavors. In the professional context of teaching, it substantiates much of what we do to support student success as we help them develop the processes required for learning and how to develop products to demonstrate their progress.

The process is extremely important. If we forget to reflect on the process then we will not fine tune and improve. I am often guilty of this because of a fallacy driven by hard work and success. If I were to take the time out and reflect then maybe I would make the process more efficient and better direct hard work.
