Now that I’ve identified some SRL strategies for students to use I feel much more confident about this material. Teaching these learning processes to students can help them develop self-regulation. However, a shift in focus is required to transition from theory to application. I need to take steps towards developing application strategies of SRL in the classroom to facilitate these processes for students.

I will be looking further into Zumburnn et al. (2011) chapter on encouraging student self-regulated learning and identify specific examples of this application in the classroom.

Encouraging Student Self-Regulated Learning

- Direct Instruction and Modeling

- Guided and Independent Practice

- Social Support and Feedback

- Reflective Practice

I got the opportunity to go rafting in Quebec City on the Jacques Cartier River. A memorable experience with some great people. These types of activities are great for mind and body. They truly help me gain perspective and contribute to my motivation for learning.
